Prof Dr. Mansor is currently the Deputy President Academic and Dean of School of Graduate Studies in INCEIF. Prior to joining INCEIF, Prof. Dr. Mansor H. Ibrahim served the Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Management, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) for three years (2009- 2011) and the Department of Economics, International Islamic University Malaysia for 12 years (1996-2008).
He teaches mostly quantitative courses such as mathematics for economics and business, Statistics, and econometrics at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels. His areas of interest are Monetary economics and time series analyses of macroeconomic and financial data. His Publications appears in various internationally refereed journals including, among others, Journal of Banking and Finance, Economic Modelling, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money, Pacific-Basin Finance Journal, Energy Policy, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Singapore Economic Review, Asian Economic Journal, Developing Economies, Economic Changes and Restructuring, International Economic Journal, International Review of Economics, Journal of Applied Economics, Journal of Asia-Pacific Business, Journal of the Asia Pacific Economy and Journal of Forecasting.
He serves as a guest editor for the Pacific-Basin Finance Journal special issues in Islamic Finance from 2014 till present and Associate Editor for Economic Modelling. Throughout his academic career, he has published in various scholarly journals and conducted applied econometrics training on Basic Econometrics, Time Series Econometrics and Panel Data Modelling for various institutions.
Dato’ Azmi is one of International Islamic University Malaysia’s (IIUM) pioneering staff when he joined the then newly set up university in Nov 1983 as a lecturer at the Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences. In his 36 years of service to IIUM, he was a professor at the Department of Finance, and Department of Business Administration, Kulliyah of Economics and Management Sciences. He was also the Dean of the Kulliyyah from 1996 to 2003. From 2003 to 2008, he held the position of Deputy Rector (Academic and Research). He was the Dean of the Office of Corporate Strategy and Quality Assurance from 2008 to 2009 and the Dean of IUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance from 2009 to 2011.
Over the years, Dato’ Azmi has received awards and recognitions at the international and the national levels, among them are:
- Top 500 of the world’s most prominent and influential personalities in the Islamic world in Islamica 500.
- The Most Outstanding Individual Contribution to Islamic Finance at the KLIFF Islamic Finance Awards in Kuala Lumpur in 2015.
- Lifetime Achievement Award in Islamic Economics and Finance at the 3rd World Islamic Economics and Finance Conference in Pakistan in 2020.
Prior to joining INCEIF, Dato’ Azmi was the Director General of Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) at Islamic Development Bank Group in Jeddah (Jan 2012 – Sept 2017). At IRTI, he had introduced a number of innovative policy research which culminated into flagship reports such as IRTI Islamic Social Finance Report and IsDB-World Bank Global Report on Islamic Finance. He has also advised and provided technical assistance to several IsDB member countries in their implementation of Islamic Finance.
Prof. Dr. Ashraf is a senior researcher at International Shariah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA) and a Professor at the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF). He was also the former Executive Director of ISRA Management Centre and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ISRA Consulting.
He attained a PhD (Islamic Law) from the University of Birmingham, UK, 1999, M.A (Fiqh & Usul Fiqh), University of Jordan, Jordan, 1995, B.A. (Shariah), Islamic University Medina, Saudi Arabia, 1991 and Postgraduate Diploma in Shariah Law & Practice, International Islamic University Malaysia, 2001. Previously, he was an academic staff member in the Department of Fiqh and Usul Fiqh, Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (IRKHS), International Islamic University Malaysia. He was then seconded to Al -Madinah International University as Deputy Rector (Academic Affairs) for two years.
He is an author of two books and has published a number of articles in the Malaysian and international journals. He has been a Chevening Fellow at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, United Kingdom. Prof. Dr. Ashraf Md Hashim has vast experience in providing Shariah views on retail and investment banking products, sukuk structuring and unit trusts. He was also actively involved in advising Takaful and Retakaful companies such as ACR Retakaful, ARIL and Takaful Malaysia. Currently, he is a member of Central Bank of Malaysia (BNM) Shariah Advisory Council (SAC) and National Fatwa Council of Malaysia. He is also a Shariah Committee member of the Securities Commission and the Chairman of Shariah Committee, Bursa Malaysia. He also serves as a member of Technical Committee of IFSB for matters related to retakaful. In addition, Dr Ashraf is also a Shariah Advisor to a number of Islamic Financial Institutions in Malaysia and abroad. He was also a former member of the Board of Directors of Lemabaga Tabung Haji Malaysia.
Under the sukuk provisions, he has been supervising the team of key experts as the team principal as well as will be involved in drafting of Sukuk roadmap and Sukuk regulation as Shariah and Islamic capital market expert for the project of Developing Regulatory & Supervisory Framework for Islamic Finance in Tajikistan and Development of Regulatory Framework for Domestic Sovereign Sukuk Issuance in Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
Management
Wan Rizaidy W Mamat Saufi is the Acting Chief Executive Officer of ISRA Consulting. He has years of experience in both capital markets and Islamic finance ranging from regulatory body, stock exchanges to international foreign banks. His area of focus is on Islamic Capital Market Development, Islamic financing products & services, Shariah Governance and Islamic hedging solutions. He is also a Shariah Committee member of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Malaysia Berhad.
Prior to ISRA Consulting, he was the Capital Market Expert for Brunei Darussalam Central Bank, he also used to work with the Securities Commission Malaysia, Bursa Malaysia, Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) and several international and Malaysian financial institutions. He was also a former member of various working committees for Islamic finance by the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB), Securities Commission Malaysia and Bank Negara Malaysia.
Wan Rizaidy holds a Masters in Islamic Finance Practices from the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) and Bachelor of Economics (Hons) degree from the International Islamic University Malaysia specializing in Islamic Economics. He is also an Associate Member of Association of Shariah Advisors In Islamic Finance (ASAS) and Affiliate Member of Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia (ICDM).
