APEL. A – Access
What is APEL.A
APEL.A enables individuals with work experience to pursue higher education if they lack the formal academic qualifications for normal entry into university programmes.
The APEL.A assessment is divided into two criteria.
Aptitude Test
Covers numeracy, English and Bahasa Malaysia literacy, and general knowledge / critical thinking.
Portfolio Assessment:
Evidence of prior learning including certificates, documents and awards, workplace endorsements and testimonials, and work samples that have direct relevance to the learning acquired.

Use your prior learning experiences to fulfil the admission criteria for INCEIF University’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. APEL.A grants access to 6 levels of qualifications – Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree and Doctoral Degree (PhD).
Eligibility for Admission Through APEL.A
- Admission through APEL.A is applicable to all Masters programmes and PhD by Coursework and Dissertation offered by INCEIF University.
- Admission conditions through APEL:
- Candidates must pass the APEL assessment conducted by MQA;
- Candidates must meet the minimum requirements, as follows:
Masters (level 7, MQF):
- At least 30 years of age in the year of application;
- At least STPM/ Diploma / other equivalent qualification; and
- Relevant working experience.
PhD (level 8, MQF):
- At least 35 years of age in the year of application;
- Possess at least a Bachelor degree or equivalent qualifications (or those with higher qualifications, e.g. Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma) equivalent to minimum CGPA of 2.50 and above
- Candidates with CGPA of below 2.50 but above 2.00, may be considered, subject to additional internal assessments.
- The qualification is recognised / accredited by recognised accreditation authority.
- Possess at least 5 years of relevant work experience after completion of the Bachelor’s Degree programme (the working experience must be relevant to Islamic finance).

APEL. C – Credit Award
What Is APEL.C
Complete your studies faster and graduate ahead of your peers. With APEL.C, you can earn up to 30% of your course credits.
Why Choose APEL.C
APEL.C is available for most INCEIF University courses. If you manage to show that you have achieved at least 50% of the course learning outcomes, you will then be awarded course credits. Please refer to your programme’s course information web page to determine which courses are eligible for APEL.C.

APEL. M – Microcredentials
What is APEL.M
Accreditation of prior experiential learning for the purposes of obtaining qualifications under the various Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF) levels through the completion of microcredentials.
Why Choose APEL.M
APEL offers a pathway for individuals to validate and receive credit for the learning they have acquired through work experience, professional training, or other non-formal education avenues. It serves as a means to recognise the expertise and competencies gained outside of traditional academic settings.
Role of MQA in APEL.M
MQA has developed guidelines for APEL.M to inform higher education providers (HEPs) and stakeholders about their implementation. As the authority for APEL in Malaysia, MQA can:
- Approve or reject HEP applications to establish APEL Assessment Centres (Pusat Penilaian APEL, PPA) and implement APEL.M.
- Retract approval if malpractices are found.
- Monitor and audit the APEL processes and procedures.
- Amend the guidelines as needed to keep HEPs updated on any changes to ensure the effectiveness of APEL.M.
